At the top of Cliffe Lane, to the east of Bowley is Dean Lane.

Over the initial short ascent the views open up to Pendle and in to Yorkshire.

Once a pack horse trail Dean Lane runs from the top of Cliffe to Whalley making a steep descent and ascent through Dean Wood where it crosses the brook.

A short trip across the flood plain and the Dean Brook's journey ends as it joins the River Calder at Waterside.
