Looking for the family of Clarence Edmundson Over the past 10 years I have been researching my husband Steve's family from Great Harwood. During this research a lot of stories and events that shaped his grandparents lives have emerged. One story that has always intrigued me is, Steve's grandmother Eda's first love, Clarence Edmundson. I would love the descendants of his brothers and sisters to see this photo. They may already have it but if they haven't it would be nice to let them see Clarence. I will tell everything that I know of Clarence Edmundson's family history and someone may recognise his family members. Eda was engaged to Clarence Edmundson who died in WW1 at Aldershot. He died aged 19, on Wednesday 21/11/1917. He is buried at Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Poperinge, West Vlaanderen, Belgium. Clarence was a Private in the 2nd Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment. In 1901 the family lived at 2 Barnmeadow Lane, Great Harwood. Clarence was 3 years old. Here are his family and their ages at the time of the census in 1901: Father: Thomas Edmundson (40) Mother: Mary E Edmundson (40) Brother: James Henry Edmundson (17) Brother: Albert Edmundson (10) Sister: Mary Edmundson (6) In 1917, at the time of his death, it is recorded that Clarence was the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Edmundson of 102 Blackburn Road, Great Harwood. Clarence's brother Albert, who was a Private in the 6 th battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, died exactly 10 months later on 21/09/1918 and is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial in France . |
